Dizzy and Desperate

Did you know PT can help?

Physical therapists treat dizziness every day. Many people have never heard of vestibular rehabilitation or the role PTs play in vestibular management.

Some common diagnoses treated include:
  • BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo)

  • Vestibular Neuritis

  • Endolymphatic Hydrops AKA Meinieres

Lots of big words I know!

Take a look at the common symptoms associated with these diagnoses. Reach out if this sounds like you! Many of our PTs also specialize in vestibular rehab and even earn some fancy letters behind their name. Look for these guys designated by Cert VT.

So you're dizzy and don't have a diagnosis. Do any of these patient profiles sound like you?

  • Spinning sensation with a change in head position, lying or rolling in bed = BPPV

  • Intense onset of vertigo, nausea lasting minutes to hours = Vestibular Neuritis AKA Inner Ear Infection

  • Episodes of intense vertigo, aural fullness, tinnitus, hearing loss, and imbalance = Meinieres

The list of symptoms and diagnoses is meant to be used as a guide not a medical diagnosis. Please note, vertigo is the false sensation of movement. It is a symptom not a diagnosis. Seek out a consult or appointment from one of our vestibular therapists today!

Special Thanks to Dr. Natalie Hiddeman, PT, DPT, NCS for her expert contributions to this post.
